I don't think so. I haven't tested it, but a player does not get exp if not nearby to combat, so I presume a hero would be the same...

I have found the best way to level really lowbie heros is to do quests then before you collect the reward, kick out your 20 heroes and put your lowbies in..that way they get the quest rewards

for me the best way to lvl my heros was to do into the desert as a worm, and then start killing anything you see

If the heros/henchies names are dimmed in the party box, they're so far offscreen that they don't get XP and don't share in item drops (but they do share in cash drops).

Best way to level them is to take them out with you with defensive builds, and go kill things that are easy for you but around their level. Bring a reusable rez.

Gates of Kryta (Scoundrel's Rise outside, actually) is perfect in Prophecies if you have a nuker or MM primary.

Before you get to the wurms the best way to level them is to fight stuff around their level.

I just leveled all my heros by running around the Marga Coast and Arkjok Ward. Also reached sunspear level 8 while doing it. I just took a bunch of xp scrolls with me and killed two birds with one stone

Do some Factions quests, they have ridiculous EXP rewards.

Whenever i bring foreign characters to Elona, and i get all these low level heros i found quite an ez way to lvl them.

Go to the Beknur Harbor, so that you can get into Issnur Isles. Zone, get the Drakes bounty, rack up a bunch of low lvl scrolls, and clear the whole zone of drakes. There is a lot of them if you go completely from one side to the other and arent pretty ez to kill. You can get 3 heros to around lvl 14-15 in about an hour. Then doing the Consulate Docks mission gets em a couple more lvls; more if you use scrolls. AFter that just get bounties and you should have all heros at max before you finish "Building the Base" quests, probly way earlier...

cheers!

Just go out in any high end zone and let the heroes level on high lvl enemies.
Ok they WILL die, no doubt.
Did Kodonur Crossroads with my lvl 6 Koss... Was lvl 10 when i finished it.

If you have Factions, take your party of heros to Arborstone and do the first part of the mission where you have Mhenlo and Danaka as Allies. They don't get XP, gold or items and you get two free healers, just kill everything up to the urn then restart the mission. As long as you are level 20, they can keep you alive up to the urn, even if you are by yourself. Take your best offense build for yourself and set up your heros for offense or defense depending on their levels. Even low level heros will level fast here. Bring the skill Resurrect if you have really low level heros, or just restart the mission if they die.

I just took heros with levels in the low teens to the preamble to the Thirsty River mission. It worked great. Those Rockshots don't actually do a lot of damage ...

Presumably, at least one of the heros you need to level will be a monk. But I'm sure a party of 5 including a henchie monk would be effective too.
